FAQs

What makes the Coanda different from other helmets?

The Coanda Core is built specifically for surf. It's designed to handle surf-specific impacts — like collisions with boards, fins, or the reef — while staying secure in heavy water. It's lightweight, drains quickly, and doesn't mess with your balance or hearing. What really sets it apart is its use of the Coanda Effect — a design principle that guides water flow smoothly around the helmet to reduce drag. This makes duck dives easier, reduces turbulence, and helps you move more efficiently through the water.

Is the Coanda Core certified for impact protection?

Yes. It meets the EN 1385 water sports safety standard — the same certification used for whitewater and wake helmets. We’ve gone further by optimizing the helmet for the unique challenges of surfing: quick duck-dives, hold-downs, and high-speed wipeouts.

Will it stay on in big waves?

Absolutely. When choosing the correct size, the helmet is secure in all conditions— from thumping days in crowded lineups at your local break to heavy reef sessions on your Indo trip. It stays put when you need it most.

Will this mess with my hearing or balance?

Not at all. The Coanda helmets are designed with acoustically tuned ear vents that let sound through while still protecting you from pressure and surfers' ear — so you stay aware, balanced, and protected.

What size should I get?

Check out our sizing guide to find your fit.

Is it comfortable enough for long sessions?

Definitely! The internal padding is soft, low-profile, and dries fast. It's antimicrobial too — no funk. Most surfers forget they're wearing it after just a couple of waves.

How do I take care of it?

Just rinse with fresh water after each session, then let it air dry in the shade. Avoid leaving it in a hot car or direct sun for long periods.

What's your return policy?

We offer a 30-day return window for unused helmets in original packaging. If the size isn't quite right or you're not stoked for any reason, we'll help you swap or return it.

Is this helmet eco-friendly?

We're working toward a lighter footprint — using solvent-free adhesives, recyclable materials where possible, and sustainable packaging. This is just the beginning.
